  THE ST. AUGUSTINE COLLECTION
PATTERN GUIDE

Flagstone Pavers’ St. Augustine Collection is a compilation of paver shapes that can be used individually or combined to create a true “Old City” look and feel. The uneven chamfered edges and curvatures to the individual pavers appear as true stones. Circles and fans are included in the unique collection and denote old world craftsmanship. They become the center of attention in a field of pavers, adding warmth and charm. The St. Augustine collection consists of the following paver shapes:

Flagler, 31/8”x 61/2”
Anastasia, 61/2”x 61/2”
Castillo, 61/2”x 97/8”
Turret, 31/8” Octagon
Puente, 61/2”x 7”x 2”
Leones, 61/2”x 71/2”x 43/8”
Bahia, 33/8”x 11”

Though the patterns are illustrated using the same color throughout, it is possible to mix the different colors to dramatically define the pattern (not recommend for circle or fans). Flagler, Anastasia or Castillo can be used individually in stacked or running bond patterns when no or minimal spacing is desired. Varying degrees of spacing will occur when 2 or all 3 shapes are combined, when other patterns are used, or when the pavers are placed incorrectly. Contact your Flagstone Paver Sales Representative for assistance.
The Construction of the St. Augustine Fans and Circles requires a manpower/labor demand estimated to be 2 to 4 times greater than that of standard paver installations. Instructions (sequence of work, the number/ type/ alignment/ arrangement of pavers, etc.) should be followed by contractors without modification. End users should be notified of and expect “greater than normal” but “manageable” spacing with circle and fan installations.

Following the graph provided, start the installation by placing the maters for ring #4 in a 57-1/2” diameter circle (see fig.1).

Taking extreme care to not disturb the placement of ring #4, install ring #3 inside of and against ring #4. Install ring #2 inside of and against ring #3. Install ring #1 inside of and against ring #2. Place the Turret paver in the center of the circle. Adjust pavers within each ring as necessary to distribute spaces evenly. However do not move rings apart from each other. Fill all spaces with sand to stabilize work already completed as workers will be standing on and working out from ring to ring (see fig.2). Continue the installation process from Ring #5, filling spaces with sand after every 3-4 rings (see fig. #3).

Do not substitute, eliminate, add or rearrange pavers. A polymer sand can be used to better maintain the sand between pavers after installation.

It is possible to begin a circle from the outer edge of any round internal centerpiece such as fountains, planters, statues, courtyards, or different paver surfaces.

The size and quantity of pavers that is needed to achieve a pattern has been calculated within a square foot. The calculations have been done as close to 100 sq. ft. as possible, without using partial repeats or pavers. A qualified installer or architect should prepare exact measurements and quantities.

FAN PATTERN
The St. Augustine Collection lends itself, with the use of the Bahia (fan starter), Puente, and Leones quite well to create the fan effect.

When installed to the tolerances specified, large areas can be covered and maintain their attractive pattern. See your Flagstone Representative for detailed instructions.
Note: Spacer bars are indicated by a red dot. Install pavers as shown to minimize gapping.
